Jordan came to see us a few weeks ago complaining of a searing pain on the inside of his shin, worse when he was in casual shoes, but fine in his work boots.

After clearing his spine and hips we investigated his feet. During gait assessment we noticed excessive pronation during mid-stance, and on palpation the tibialis posterior tendon was extremely tender. We tested and re-tested his gait with different supports until we came to the ideal combination.

Using a medial heel wedge, and taping to correct the distal tibiofibular joint, we were able to improve the alignment and movement of his foot and ankle, thus offloading the painful tendon. We also prescribed strengthening exercises to better stabilise the arch during stance.

He now no longer needs the tape, and we are weaning off the arch support as his strength improves. He is happy, we are happy!

NB- this is a cost effective way of treating foot pain, in conjunction with strengthening, stretching, joint mobilisations, medical acupuncture, fascia release and other techniques as required on assessment. At Wellness Embodied Cairns we really take a comprehensive approach to assessment, diagnosis and treatment of all conditions. Call us today on 07 42319777.
