VERTIGO

Vertigo is characterised as a type of dizziness. Its symptoms can vary for every individual but may include balance problems, ringing ears, nausea, vomiting, having problems focussing your eyes and sweating. It can be very debilitating – we can help. Our Cairns vertigo treatment is safe and starts with a thorough assessment at our Cairns Dizziness Clinic.

MOTION SICKNESS

Motion sickness is triggered by various types of travel and movement. For some it’s boats, for others it’s buses and planes. Cars can also cause problems. While everyone can suffer motion sickness, it’s more common in those who suffer vestibular conditions or migraines. We tailor our Cairns motion sickness treatments to your specific needs.

INTEGRATED CARE

During an assessment we’ll review your history, to identify when the vertigo / motion sickness started. Investigate triggers which cause episodes; and review any existing management plans in place, such as medications. We also complete a physical examination of balance, co-ordination, nervous system and biomechanics. We then develop a treatment pathway.

Cairns Vertigo Treatment

At Wellness Embodied every case of vertigo or dizziness that we see is different. Each treatment is tailored to your specific circumstances, history and goals. Your Cairns vertigo treatment may include:

  • Vestibular Rehabilitation exercises to address and improve issues with co-ordination and balance. This really helps you to regain your confidence.
  • Positional Vertigo Treatment which involves repositioning manoeuvres that help to reset the balance to tissues in your inner ear.
  • Hands on treatment to your neck and shoulders. This may involve soft tissue massage and gentle joint mobilisation techniques.
  • Cranio-sacral techniques are often used. This gentle approach is ideal for vertigo sufferers.

Cairns Motion Sickness Treatment

There’s three types of Cairns motion sickness treatment, all of which can help with symptoms and are complementary to each other for best outcomes. They include the following.

  • Habituation exercises guided by one of our professional team. We will repetitively expose your body to certain movements, to help your brain get used to that motion and prevent symptoms from coming back.
  • Behavioural: Avoid or modify certain movements / activities. eg: sitting in the front car when you are a passenger.
  • Medication: Some medications can help to reduce the symptoms, always consult your GP for more information.
