CAIRNS MEN'S HEALTH MANAGEMENT

Cairns men’s health management services are provided by the Allied Health team at Wellness Embodied. We provide personalised treatment plans to assist with rehabilitation from a range of men’s health conditions, including prostate cancer, erectile dysfunction, incontinence, penile rehabilitation and more.

MEN'S HEALTH

A large range of male-specific sexual and reproductive health conditions exist. Some of the most common issues includes, but is not limited to: Prostatitis, Prostate cancer, Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia, Incontinence, Anorectal dysfunction, Erectile dysfunction, Infertility, Peyronie’s disease, Testicle dysfunction, Penile dysfunction, Pelvic pain and Androgen Deficiency. In collaboration with your doctor, the Allied Health team at Wellness Embodied can help you navigate these conditions with treatment and support.

YOUR TREATMENT

Physiotherapy provided pre and post prostate surgery, can greatly improve your continence (bladder control) and erectile function outcomes. If possible, book your first appointment six weeks or more before surgery. Similarly, a resistance and cardio exercise program, pre and post prostate surgery, can also be highly beneficial in speeding up your recovery. Our Allied Health team are well positioned to develop this in accordance with your specific needs. No referral is required.

OUR CARING TEAM

Our caring team of Allied Health professionals includes physiotherapists, occupational therapists, an exercise physiologist, naturopath, remedial massage therapists and provisional psychologists. We work collaboratively and appropriately at various stages throughout your treatment, which enables us to provide a comprehensive Cairns men’s health management service that delivers optimum results and outcomes for you.

Prostate Cancer and Men's Health

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in Australia and like most cancers, early diagnosis and treatment greatly enhances your outcomes. Some common signs of prostate disease include: incomplete bladder emptying, increased frequency of urination at night, difficulty urinating, intermittent flow, urgency and post urination dribble.

We know these are ‘issues’ men don’t like talking about, but our team of Allied Health professionals are here to support you through this difficult time, with compassionate and caring Cairns men’s health management services.

Our Treatment – Your Rehabilitation

Penile rehabilitation is a key aspect of recovery from many male health conditions. Nerve impacts and blood flow disruption are common side effects of scar tissue, or can occur after prostate surgery. Our physiotherapists, in conjunction with your doctor, can advise on treatments, technology, and programs that can assist in penile and pelvic rehabilitation and improvement in sexual function.

If your pelvic pain has a musculoskeletal origin, hands-on, manual treatment can be very helpful. This may involve treating your pelvic floor, spine, sacroiliac joints, pubic symphysis or groin. Our physiotherapists at Wellness Embodied are very experienced in manual therapy for pelvic pain.

The team at Wellness Embodied are here to help. We will develop a treatment plan to deliver optimal results for you, to support your return to health and function. This, coupled with lifestyle advice and technological recommendations, will give you the tools to optimise your outcome.

Prevention Better Than Cure

Even better than you having to manage your male health problem, is preventing that problem from developing in the first place. Some male specific conditions can develop due to other health concerns such as:

  • Cardiovascular issues
  • Diabetes
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Obesity
  • Addictions
  • Nutritional deficits
  • Physical injuries

We can help. Did you know higher levels of cardiorespiratory fitness have recently shown to be associated with a lower risk of death from prostate cancer? Our team of physiotherapists, exercise physiologists and osteopaths are well positioned to develop this in accordance with your specific needs.

Nutrition plays a strong role in the prevention of male health issues and in improving reproductive health. We can help with that too.

At Wellness Embodied, it’s our vision to make Far North Queensland the healthiest region in Australia. We assess and treat everyone as an individual and will direct you to the best member of our Allied Health team, to help you manage health concerns which have the potential to impact your sexual and reproductive health.
