Pregnancy is an exciting time for expecting Mums, but it’s also a time of great physical changes which can sometimes lead to pain in your back, sciatica, headaches and more. Our Cairns physiotherapy pregnancy care is gentle, natural and effective. No referrals needed.

Pregnancy pain can manifest at any time during gestation and even after baby has arrived. It can be very uncomfortable and might present as lower back pain and sciatica, aching legs and feet, headaches, carpal tunnel, pelvic girdle, pubic symphysis pain and more. Why does it happen? Mainly because your body is transforming rapidly and the baby weight causes a shift in your body’s centre of gravity, which has the flow-on effects of strain and pain.

Our Cairns physiotherapy pregnancy care is natural and gentle. One of our Senior Cairns Physiotherapists, Leisa Lawson, has been focussed on supporting women and their baby, during and post pregnancy since 2007. This includes experience with pelvic health, pelvic pain, mastitis, nipple trauma and scar management. She is passionate about supporting women during pregnancy, preparing for birth (vaginal and caesarean) and recovery.

Here at Wellness Embodied, we aim to support both you and your baby throughout your whole pregnancy journey. Our natural, manual healthcare, including Cairns physiotherapy pregnancy treatments, are effective and gentle, suitable for Mums to be at all stages of their pregnancy and of course, safe for baby. We can also provide advice on suitable exercise programs and lifestyle choices to support you at this time.

Several of our Physiotherapists have a special clinical interest in Women’s Health and pregnancy related pain. We assess and treat many common conditions associated with pregnancy and the post-natal period, which include but are not limited to the following:

  • Lower back pain and sciatica (pain down the legs)
  • Aching legs or feet
  • Sacroiliac pain
  • Pelvic girdle and pubic symphysis pain
  • Neck, shoulder or middle back pain
  • Incontinence
  • Headaches
  • Carpal tunnel (numbness and tingling in the hands)

Exercise during pregnancy is something that is important, to maintain your own strength but also to help support your body as it changes over the course of time. Some women are unsure of the best and safest course of action for them, that’s where Wellness Embodied can help.

Our Exercise Physiologist Kate Jeremy is also a Mum to a young family, so she is personally and professionally experienced to support you and baby with appropriate exercise therapy and advice. Kate can provide assessment, education and tailored exercise programs, suitable during pregnancy and post-partum.

We also offer Physiotherapist-led Clinical Pilates (Reformer / Equipment) classes, with exercises tailored specifically to your needs and Rehab Classes led by our Physiotherapists and/or Exercise Physiologist.

Pregnancy can be a beautiful but challenging journey for an expecting mother, and you don’t want to be in pain and discomfort. Here at Wellness Embodied, we aim to support both you and your baby throughout your whole pregnancy journey.

Referrals are not necessary. Health fund rebates are available and NDIS and Medicare clients are all eligible for these services.

They have great physios, who get to know you as a person, not just your illness. They also do nice little personal touches, like sending you a birthday message or checking in via text to see you're ok after a treatment.

I presently visit 3 different staff members and I find what they are helping me with, always improves my situation. They really care for me as a person, and I appreciate that! The admin girls are like friends - laughing and talking with me. I feel like I'm coming to visit family when I walk through the door. I love your business' dedication to community also
