Whiplash Injury

Whiplash injury is an injury to the head and neck, caused by the sudden thrusting forwards and snapping back of the unsupported head. This sudden acceleration and deceleration can cause damage to muscles, ligaments and joints. The severity of damage and resulting pain, varies from person to person.

Collisions are the most common cause of whiplash, but it can also occur in workplace accidents and sporting and lifestyle activities, including horse riding, cycling, karate and tackling sports.

Whiplash symptoms are varied and can include neck stiffness, headache, shoulder pain, back pain, tingling / numbness of the arms, dizziness / motion sensitivity / vertigo, emotional changes, issues with swallowing or chewing, concentration issues and fatigue.
