Long-COVID Treatment Cairns

Long-COVID treatment Cairns is available at Wellness Embodied. In fact, our multi-disciplinary team of allied health professionals are ideally suited to provide support and treatment for this and other post-viral issues, that share many of the long-COVID symptoms.

WHAT IS LONG-COVID?

Long-COVID has received a lot of media coverage, but what is it? Long-COVID – also known as Post COVID syndrome – is a series of persisting symptoms that present up to and over 4 weeks after you have ‘recovered’ from COVID. These symptoms can include but are not limited to ongoing fatigue, shortness of breath, heart palpitations, muscle / joint pain, anxiety / depression, headaches, brain fog, dizziness and more. They can be debilitating and impact on your function and quality of life. The Wellness Embodied team are here to help with effective Long-COVID treatment Cairns.

POST-VIRAL ISSUES

Before COVID we saw a number of patients presenting at Wellness Embodied, suffering these same symptoms. While presentation and duration varied, the common factor was that all of these patients were in ‘recovery’ from various virus-like illnesses. This includes tick bites, Ross River Fever, flu, Epstein Barr, HIV, herpes and various other viral infections. Many of these symptoms overlap with symptoms which we see in other client populations, including those with Functional Neurological Disorder, or persistent dizziness. This prompted us to open our Cairns Dizziness Clinic.

BEAT THE FATIGUE & FOG

Fatigue and brain fog are perhaps the most common and debilitating presenting symptom. In conjunction with our Long-COVID treatment Cairns, we can help you beat the fatigue. We have a number of modalities at our disposal, some of which are outlined as follows. Exercise within a guided window of tolerance (prescribed by your Physiotherapist or Exercise Physiologist). Craniosacral Therapy and Physiotherapy for wellbeing and management of any pain. We will choose the best one to suit you and your Long-COVID treatment Cairns.

WE CAN HELP

At Wellness Embodied, our vision is to make Cairns the healthiest city in Australia. We are constantly striving to raise the bar and provide high quality healthcare, ideally without the need for surgery or medications. During our Long-COVID treatment Cairns, our multidisciplinary team will look at you as a whole and cross refer, both within our team and externally, to ensure you get a well-rounded approach to your health and recovery. We recommend starting with a Physiotherapy or Osteopathy assessment, so that we can assess your unique needs and formulate a plan to help your recovery.

From there, we draw on a range of evidence-based therapy and treatment. For ongoing muscle and joint pain, we can treat with Physiotherapy, Craniosacral Therapy, regular stretching and remedial massage.

Remedial massage can also reduce muscle tension and fascial tightness, while supporting emotional stress. Other modalities, including dry needling and cupping can also be very useful.

OUR APPROACH & SUPPORT

Diet change and supplements is another effective way to help manage pain, fatigue and even anxiety. If we feel this applies to you, then our Long-COVID treatment Cairns will include an appointment with our Physiotherapist and Naturopath, Catherine Lipsett Moore.

Catherine will look at your diet, bloods and lifestyle, to tailor a plan to your specific health needs, helping your body to regulate inflammation and composition, thereby optimising health and well-being.

Breathing is another powerful treatment modality that we can incorporate with your Long-COVID treatment Cairns. Our bodies rely on oxygen and breathing to function. By knowing, learning and practicing breathing correctly, your body can benefit in many different aspects including managing shortness of breath, fatigue and anxiety. Our Physiotherapist Campbell Will offers an hour long Breathing consult via Zoom.
