CAIRNS HYPERMOBILITY TREATMENT

Cairns hypermobility treatment is provided by the team at Wellness Embodied. Our physiotherapists can provide advice on the condition itself, complete a physical assessment to determine your individual circumstances and then outline appropriate exercise and activity.

WHAT IS HYPERMOBILITY?

Hypermobility is an inherited, connective tissue disorder including diagnoses such as Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, Marfan’s Syndrome and benign Joint Hypermobility Syndrome. People with hypermobility have excessive laxity of multiple joints and may have dislocations and subluxations. There are many ways to help to manage the symptoms and with the right management, people can achieve their goals and improve their life. We can help.

HYPERMOBILITY SYMPTOMS

In essence, the symptoms of hypermobility include the fact that your body can move itself in ways that other people cannot. Fingers and thumbs can be bent backwards at strange angles, double jointed shoulders / elbows and more. While the movement itself may not cause pain at the time, it generally leads to aches and pains at the end of the day, widespread pain patterns and pain recurrence. You might also experience clicking, cracking or popping joints.

OUR TREATMENT

Our Cairns hypermobility treatment looks at the whole person. Our skilled allied health professionals will help you manage the symptoms, and support you to thrive. Our team provides hands-on treatment, advice, education, specific rehab exercises and help with taping and splinting if needed. We can also provide craniosacral therapy, which is beneficial for stress and anxiety management.

JOINT HYPERMOBILITY SYNDROME & AUTONOMIC DYSFUNCTION

With joint hypermobility syndrome, people have joint proprioceptive impairments, autonomic dysfunction, and sometimes, stress and anxiety.

There is also a strong connection between joint hypermobility syndrome and autonomic nervous system dysfunction. Symptoms related to the autonomic nervous system can be syncope or presyncope, fatigue and cardiovascular symptoms such as palpitation.

People with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and benign Joint Hypermobility Syndrome can experience gastro intestinal issues and have IBS. So, the impacts and presenting symptoms can be wide reaching and varied.

At Wellness Embodied we draw on a diverse range of modalities, to provide comprehensive support and treatment.
