Who is this program for? Patients suffering from :
-Vertigo ( IE: Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo or BPPV: what is it and how we can treat it ?)
–Age related dizziness and imbalance
– Poor vestibular function (The vestibular system can be affected by a wide range of conditions- from viruses to neurological conditions).
-Motion sensitivity
-Impaired balance
Our assessment will include:Assessment of specific eye movement to check for abnormalities present in vestibular dysfunction.
Assessment of neck range of movement to identify possible cervical spine involvement
Positional testing to identify the presence of positional vertigo
Analysis of static and dynamic balance to determine the function of our three major balance systems: visual, proprioceptive (body position and self regulation of same) and vestibular systems
Assessment of walking patterns and falls risk
Analysis of the impact of symptoms on your everyday life
What will your results tell us?
Depending on what your tests show to be the major cause of your symptoms, our treatment will consist of any or all of the following:
-Adaptation exercises to retrain the essential reflex connection between eye and head movements.
-Gradual and guided exposure to more difficult stimuli, to reduce sensitivity to movement
-Gait and balance retraining
