At Wellness Embodied, our team of allied health professionals includes experienced physiotherapists, exercise physiologists, remedial massage therapists and an osteopath. We’re committed to providing personalised Cairns autism management programs and treatment, to deliver best outcomes for each of our clients and their unique and presenting needs.
Research shows that children and young people on the autism spectrum, are at risk of low levels of physical activity, and high levels of sedentary behaviours. This puts them at risk of diseases associated with inactivity, as well as limits their opportunities for social engagement. That’s why our Cairns autism management approach, specifically addresses movement and function.
Our approach to Cairns autism management is to assess each client as being unique, and tailor individualised treatment plans, to deliver best outcomes for their specific needs. Our plans are designed to improve overall levels of physical activity, as well as to promote early identification of movement difficulties, facilitating early access to specialised interventions and promoting better outcomes for patients with autism.
We strongly value hands on therapies as a part of our Cairns autism management plans, to help relieve pain and management of sensory issues. Our team of allied health professionals are experienced at a range of modalities and will select the best ones, to maximise your Cairns autism management. These may include, but are not limited to, craniosacral therapy, osteopathic techniques or remedial massage.
Autism is a condition that affects how a person thinks, feels and interacts with others, and experiences their environment. It’s a lifelong disability that starts when a person is born and stays with them into old age. Every person with autism is different to the other. This is why autism is described as a ‘spectrum’. Some of the frequent symptoms may include, but are not limited to:
To develop an appropriate Cairns autism management plan for each client, we complete a range of assessments. This includes a BOT-2 assessment, which provides the tools to benchmark a child’s fundamental motor skills, such as balancing, running, strength and agility, and is suitable for those aged 4-21.
Accurate assessments and comprehensive reporting can help NDIS clients receive appropriate funding, to support their treatment and care. If you, or your child has issues with mobility, or performing day to day physical functional tasks, we can perform a Functional Capacity Assessment in clinic or at your home, to assist you with a report on your current state and guide you in future goal setting.
Our assessments are offered in addition and to complement our Cairns autism management support and treatment.
Referrals are not necessary to book an assessment or session with any of our allied health professionals. Our team are uniquely qualified and positioned to provide movement and physical activity interventions, to children at various stages on the autism spectrum.
The incorporation of physical therapy in the routine care of children on the autism spectrum has the potential to improve health and wellbeing, through promotion of physical activity and improved motor development.
In addition to in clinic support and treatment, we also have availability for our physiotherapists to provide home visits to clients who are under NDIS or privately paying.
