Concussion is a mild brain injury resulting from rapid acceleration or deceleration of the brain within the skull. It is usually associated with high impact ‘collision’ either on the sports field or in an accident scenario on bike, vehicle or other. Symptoms vary from incident to individual and may include loss of consciousness, vomiting, headache, neck pain and more. Post-concussion care is critical for recovery and the quicker you seek attention, after injury, the better the recovery outcomes and timeline. Improper concussion management can lead to further issues and long-term damage. While this is widely documented regarding sporting concussions, it is applicable to anyone with a concussion. Therapeutic interventions and support, provided by our team of Cairns Complete Concussions practitioners, will improve recovery, helping you return to work and activity safely.

Please note Clara will be on Maternity Leave from 19 December 2024. Clara is a passionate physiotherapist who is always learning and encourages our team to do the same, in her role as Lead Physiotherapist for the Wellness Embodied ‘Dizzy Clinic’. She is one of our CCMI trained Concussion Management Physiotherapists and our main Vestibular Physiotherapist, using the Vesticam goggles and evidence based techniques to assist those suffering with vertigo, balance issues and persistant dizziness. Clara speaks English, Spanish and basic Auslan.

Maigi is passionate about helping people and enjoys working as a physiotherapist. She has a special interest in vestibular rehabilitation and has undertaken extensive training in this area, and uses Vesticam infrared video goggles during sessions. Maigi is also one of our Complete Concussions trained clinicians and assists people who have sustained a concussion with their recovery.
