As physiotherapists we work in pretty much every unit in the hospital setting- from intensive care to accident and emergency. The physiotherapist on a general medical or surgical ward is often tasked with maintaining a patient’s mobility, strength, movement and a clear chest while they are unwell. Respiratory, neurological, paediatric and other branches of physiotherapy will be discussed in later posts- most physiotherapists will have experience across many of these.
